The over-representation of minority youth in the American criminal justice system is well documented, both nationally and globally. Alternative Restorative Communities (ARC) has taken a fresh approach to addressing this injustice by investing in young people in a way that first repairs the harm that has been done to them and restores a lost part of their childhood. 

 

ARC took five young men and their mentors from California to London in 2022 to provide them with an enriching experience that would expand their possibilities, with safe people in a safe place, where they could see a world outside of their own and interact with it appropriately. 

 

All of the young people have lived experience with racial and ethnic disparity, gangs, and gun violence.
