REPAIRING HARM, RESTORING RELATIONSHIPS,

BUILDING COMMUNITIES

It's all about community!

Alternative Restorative Communities, LLC, (ARC) was formed with the goal of reducing the racial and ethnic disparity in the juvenile justice system through the use of restorative practices. We work primarily with youth, both in detention and in the community. Building community connections between our young people and the members of their community deepens their capacity for empathy and prevents recidivism. It's absolutely the best thing we can do for the future of us all!

SUCCESS RATE

Keeping a young person in education makes a huge difference to their future prospects. JCAP's amazing youth arbitrators and mentors have diverted 520 young people from entering the juvenile justice system and enabled them to remain in school.

OUR PROGRAMS

01

JCAP

The Juvenile Community Accountability Program (JCAP) is a community-based alternative to formal court filing for a young person charged with a low level of offending.

02

NOAH PROJECT

The Noah Project seeks to interrupt entry into the juvenile justice system by matching marginalized youth with a trained mentor from their community. Noah Project mentors encourage their mentee to make positive choices, stay in school, and engage in pro social behavior.

03

TRAINING

We offer professional training for members of the community who would like to serve and work with youth who have been cited for low level offenses.

04

VICTIM OFFENDER DIALOGUE

A Victim Offender Dialogue is a voluntary, safe and secure mitigation meeting between the person(s) and or family members who have been harmed, and the person(s) who are responsible for the harm.

WHY OUR PROGRAM MATTERS

A referral to ARC marks the beginning of personal transformation and change. Trained community members accompany the referred young person on a journey of accountability and insight. Taking responsibility for their actions, creates empathy and empowers the young person to put things right.

Everything that was a part of their old world remains a part of their new world. The difference being they now have a more enlightened understanding of the experience.

Young people remain in the community, increase their community connections by being matched with a trained community member, they stay in school, and the community interrupts the cycle of entry into the juvenile justice system!
